The Calallen baseball team has been ranked No. 1 in the state since before the season started.
There's a reason why.
The Wildcats continued their domination by walloping Alice 13-1 Tuesday night to improve to 4-0 in District 31-4A and 21-3
overall. Ryan Duke allowed only one hit and struck out 10 while Steven Vidaurri blasted two home runs to help extend the
team's wining streak to 12 games.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes (17-5) dropped to 2-2 in district after opening with two victories. Much like last Friday's loss to
Robstown, things went bad early on Tuesday.
By the time it was done, Calallen had an 11-0 lead and all the momentum.
The Wildcats sent 14 batters to the plate in the top of the first, an offensive explosion led by Vidaurri. He doubled his first time
up to score Duke and give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead before returning to belt a three-run homer.
Vidaurri finished with three hits and five RBI. Duke and David DeLeon each had two hits for Calallen, with Marek, Marcus
Irvine, Logan Verrett and Skylar Hoelscher each adding one.
David Towler had the only hit for Alice.

![]() Senior Ryan Duke, not only the winning pitcher (6-1), his batting action was 2-3, 2RBI, 2R. Not too shabby for the Oklahoma Kid. |
