#17 Sophomore Ryan Duke duels #22 GP Casey Allen. Both Pitchers were outstanding in their performance, but it was Duke's teammates who came through in the clutch and in the 8th inning -- the Wildcats pushed the winning run across the home plate. 3-2, Ryan Duke's pitching record goes to 5-0 for the season.

Calallen's Ryan Duke Pitcher started slow, allowing 2 runs in the first inning. And that was the only time The Gregory-Portland Wildcats would score.
With Ryan Miller #7, running for #17 Ryan Duke on base, up came #21 senior Daniel Alonzo who drilled the baseball over the fence, and scaring the chickens and goats over at the FFA Dept. Daniel ties the score at 2-2 in the First Inning.	Here's Daniel turning third and heading home, Coach Steve Chapman gives him a high-five!
Senior Jacob Kaup who had a fine day at L. E. Ramey Golf Course in Kingsville where he shot a low 75, and helped the fighting Wildcats clinched 3rd place in district. Here Jacob belts the ball for a basehit still in the First Inning.	#4 Senior Jonathan Vest drills the ball all the way to the fence in the 8th Inning for a stand-up double. The end of the game was near.

Meet the Ryan Duke Family Fan Club. Their hero not only pitched a superb game, but drove in the winning run with a double. 3-2 for the Calallen Wildcats. Ryan goes to 5-0 for the season.

Coach Steve "State Champ" Chapman gets #7 Ryan to run for #17 Ryan. :-P Then Big Daniel Alonzo hit the big one, and brought Ryan in.

In the 3rd Inning, #4 Jon V. starts with Walk. After giving instructions, First Base Coach Rudy Salinas steps back.	Good move by GP, they Walked the ever dangerous-homer hitter, Daniel Alonzo. Randy H. flys out for the 3rd out of the inning.
"Hot Hand Duke" sents this batter back to the dugout.	The hot Calallen Kid Ryan Duke blazes those fast hot ball through those GP Cats.
And if Ryan isn't striking them out, Jacob is putting them out on first.	Calling the signal is Calallen's Catcher Paul Flores. Another strike out, and later Paul lost the ball, the GP runner breaks for 2nd base, Paul finds the ball, fires to 2nd Base -- In Time!
Another fine defensive play of the game, Daniel Alonzo steals a hot hard liner heading for center field by deftly turning that hit into an out -- a fine catch, running at full speed. Cool!	Good play by Wes Callihan, #2. anticipated the bunt, played it, and threw the bunter out. Good Play Wesley!
The infield dynamic duo Cory Shick and Daniel Alonzo, they handle their area of responsibility extremely well.	#21 Alonzo fouls the ball.

#30 Jacob Kaup receives a throw from Daniel, and the GP runner is out.	#17 checks the umpire, Yep, Ryan Duke just zoomed the ball past him --" Strike Three!"
The young Sophomore was definitely in a pitching duel with Casey, both were just superb in finding the locations, and corners on that home plate. This game was going to be decided on who lasts without getting tired. Well youth outlasted the senior pitcher.	A grounder back to the pitcher's mound, Duke to Jacob for the 3rd out.
The game was strictly defense. Each side would leave runners on, and each side kept the opposing side from scoring.	And then, Coach Chapman had #10 Steven Viduarri step up to the plate in the bottom of the 8th Inning. And Viduarri was the first out of the inning. And as explained in the beginning of this page, Vest and Duke wrapped the game up, and we all went home happy.
Both Wildcat Teams deserved another applause for an outstanding game.	The scoreboard 3-2 in 8 Innings.
