Notes from coach Chambless:
Calallen High School won second place at the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association
4A State Powerlifting Championships held on 3-16-07 in Killeen. Forty three class 4A schools
were represented at the competition. Lady Wildcat lifters successfully completed an amazing
53 or 63 individual attempts throughout the competition to complete an outstanding season.
This effort followed another outstanding effort at the Region 5 meet a couple of weeks earlier in Beeville
where the Lady Wildcats finished second in the 54 school field.
Gaby Gaona and Meghan Deaver each won state championships in their respective weight classes.
Amanda Leal and Deena Poncik placed second and Megan Hunt won third place. Shelby O'Brien (ninth)
and Natalie Harvey (sixth) also competed at the state championships for Calallen High School.
