Calallen Lady Wildcats Wins the San Antonio Softball Tournament.

A brief report of the games.

The Ladycat Softball Team won the 5A Don Maddox 5A Tournament this past weekend.

They beat El Paso Americas 12-1 with Courtney Merritt and Valerie Perez going 3 for 3.

Merritt with 3 doubles and Perez with 2 triples; they beat Moody 3-0, Stephanie Castillo hitting in the winning RBI.

They beat Odessa 3-2 in the semi-final game, Angela Hook with a double and 2 RBI's; Marlena Garcia scoring the winning run off of Araceli Lopez's fielder's choice.

Finally, in the championship game, they beat El Paso Eastwood 2-1, Merritt with a double and 1 RBI.

The catcher/pitcher duo of Angela Hook and Courtney Merritt struck out 43 in 4 games, earning MVP and All Tourney plaques. Jessica Bryant also received All Tourney. It was a total team effort to win the tournament.

Western falls 10-3 to Hawaii Hilo in title game of Silver Bracket at Lead-Off Classic Western Washington University had a three-game winning streak end as it fell 10-3 to University of Hawaii Hilo in the championship game of the Silver Bracket on Saturday at the Schutt Sports Division II Lead-Off Softball Classic being held at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex. The Vikings, who advanced to the title contest with a 10-6 semifinal win over Southeastern Oklahoma State University, fell to 4-3. Hawaii Hilo, which scored seven of its runs with two out, improved to 10-2. Western freshman Hannah Becker hit her first collegiate home run with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning.
